Authority, Responsibility, ManagementAuthority "I can't do anything about that agency," the government official said. "I don't have authority over it." What does that statement say about the official's approach to management? Does it reflect a leadership style that will achieve results? PARTICIPANT COMMENT: I really got a lot out of your class. Your 'Six Step' program not only gives me format/direction but also provides an added layer of confidence for both myself and the project participants. The timing also couldn't have been better -- I finished the class and was assigned two new projects. I've had an initial meeting with one of the requesters and laid out the plan just like in class. Folks were impressed and I'm sure it will improve my chances of bringing success to the team. PARTICIPANT COMMENT: I certainly hope that you get as much enjoyment out of the classes you give and we the students do! It was so pleasurable that we forget the learning aspect, but there was much to be gained in the variety of exercises we accomplished in the short two days.

PROJECTS are the defined processes of moving organizations, ideas and groups of people from Point A to Point B when there are significant areas of uncertainty and complexity. They invest resources in efforts specifically designed to create, build and/or install innovations. There always is risk in projects, and the risk often increases in proportion to the value of the intended outcome.
